Pneumatic conveying system is also called air conveying system. Pneumatic conveying is a technology that conveys solid materials by means of air flow in a sealed pipe. It is an environmentally friendly technology that uses air flow as a carrier medium to transport granular or powdery materials. The system is mainly composed of feeding equipment, conveying pipeline, material and gas separation equipment, gas source and purification equipment, etc.

Working principle: Put the material in the air with a certain speed, transport it to the discharge point through the pipeline, and then separate the material to achieve the purpose of conveying the material.

The system includes:

Negative pressure conveying, positive pressure conveying, dilute phase conveying-solid-gas ratio: 0~10; speed: 16~35m/s 

Intermediate phase conveying, pulse conveying - solid-gas ratio: 8-20; speed: 12-20m/s

Positive pressure pneumatic conveying:

(1) Positive pressure dense phase pneumatic conveying system

Due to the effect of pressure, the material enters the conveying pipe from the sending tank, and the compressed gas is opened and closed by the solenoid valve at a certain frequency to form a pulsed airflow (air knife). With the aid of the air knife pressure being greater than the sending tank pressure, the material is cut into material plugs. The static pressure difference is used as the driving force to push the material forward. After reaching the separation device for material and gas separation, the material falls into the silo, and the gas is discharged into the atmosphere to realize transportation.

The system mainly consists of five parts: compressed air source, transmitter, control cabinet, conveying pipe and ash storage. 

1. Compressed air source:

Composed of air compressor, oil remover, dryer, air storage tank and pipeline, it mainly provides high quality compressed air for transmitter and air control components.

2. Transmitter:

The fly ash from the ash collection hopper is fluidized and sent to the ash silo through a pipeline.

3. Control cabinet:

A computer is used to centrally control the actions of various mechanical components, and a manual operating mechanism is attached.

4. Transportation pipeline:

After experiments, the transmission distance can reach 1,300 meters, and the pipeline life can reach more than 20,000 hours.

5. Ash library:

It is composed of ash storage body, bag filter, vacuum release valve, material level gauge, ash unloading equipment, etc.


1. High working pressure and large conveying capacity. Can realize ultra-long distance transportation; 

2. The material conveying speed is low, and the abrasion and damage to the pipeline and materials are small; 

3. High material-to-air ratio, low air consumption, saving operating costs;

5. The degree of automation is high. During the conveying process, it can be realized at the same time, such as metering ingredients, screening, mixing, removing iron, and removing impurities;

(2) Positive pressure dilute phase pneumatic conveying system:

Mainly use the air flow output by the Roots blower as the carrier to transport the bulk powder and granular materials into the designated equipment by air flow, and unload the powder and granular materials into the pipeline through the rotary valve or screw feeder for pressure delivery. The transportation pipeline can be flexibly arranged , So that the plant equipment process configuration is reasonable;


The solid content is less than 1-10kg/m3, the working gas velocity is higher (about 18-30m/s), and the conveying distance is short;

The system is airtight, with little dust and good environmental sanitation;

Few moving parts, convenient maintenance and easy automation;

Realize bulk material transportation with high efficiency and reduce packaging and handling costs;

During the conveying process, a variety of technological operations can be realized, such as mixing, crushing, classification, drying, cooling, dust removal and other chemical reactions.

The positive pressure dilute phase pneumatic conveying system is suitable for dispersed conveying from one place to several places; the system is under positive pressure, so even if there are gaps, atmospheric or rainwater in the joints of the components of the system, it can prevent the material from being damp. Contaminated or mixed with other sundries can ensure the quality of the conveyed materials; due to the positive pressure inside the system, the materials are easily discharged from the discharge port; if the Roots blower is used as the air source, the pressure cannot reach high, so the conveying volume And the conveying distance cannot be taken at the same time. 

In some special working conditions (petrochemicals, etc.), nitrogen or carbon dioxide can be used as the carrier gas, and the positive pressure dilute phase pneumatic conveying is suitable for conveying granular or flake materials .
